Tom Henfrey

Tom Henfrey is Research Coordinator for the ECOLISE network of European community-led sustainability initiatives.

With an academic background in Human Ecology, he has written and edited several books and numerous articles on grassroots action for sustainability. As a shamanic practitioner and permaculturist, he has a passion for working with edges: between the visible and the invisible, between the possible and the tangible, and between different ways of knowing, being and acting whose apparent conflict masks a broader perspective waiting to emerge.

Tom’s gift is an unpublished extended version of a chapter he wrote for the Para-Academic Handbook (with more detail on the permaculture. The original is in Wardrop, A. & D. Withers (eds.) The Para-Academic Handbook: A Toolkit for making-learning-creating-acting. London: HammerOn Press.
